Surfshark Review

Surfshark ranks fifth in our list of the Best VPNs of 2023. With employees in eight different countries and over 3,200 servers in 65 countries, Surfshark is easily accessible all over the world. Surfshark serves iPhone, iPad, Android, Windows, macOS, and Amazon Fire TV Stick users with end-to-end encryption and advanced privacy features like split-tunneling. Surfshark has a no-logs policy and is not bound by international data-sharing agreements.

Ranked # 5

Surfshark, based in Panama, is in fifth place on our list of the Best VPN Services of 2023. NordVPN has an advantage regarding data security, beginning with its strict no-logging policy and exclusion from the Five Eyes alliance. It is committed to privacy and is a founding member of the VPN Trust Initiative, which aims to educate the public about cybersecurity and improve VPN services in general. This review will review where this provider stands regarding price, number of concurrent devices, compatibility, and features.

Should You Select Surfshark?

Surfshark is ranked fifth in our Best VPNs of 2023 ranking. A month-to-month subscription to the service costs $12.95. That’s more than most of the other companies on our list, but the features you get may justify the price. You can protect unlimited devices, use its Whitelister service to enable split tunneling, enjoy military-grade AES-256-CBC encryption, and securely connect to the internet using the IKEv2/IPsec and Open/VPN protocols. A no-logs policy, camouflage mode, kill switch, and private DNS and leak protection are also included at no extra charge.

Surfshark works on Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, iOS, Android, Chrome, and Firefox. Xbox and PlayStation gaming consoles, Fire TV, and Apple TV are all supported. If you are not completely satisfied with Surfshark’s service, it offers assistance around the clock and a 30-day money-back guarantee.

Reviewers applaud Surfshark for its functionality of VPN service and say the company’s app is convenient to use. Some of them, however, only report speed limit test results. On Android, iOS, and macOS, the company provides a 7-day free trial and a 30-day money-back safeguard.

Cost of Surfshark

A monthly Surfshark subscription costs $12.95, but this is reduced to $2.49 with a one-year plan, and some promotions can further reduce the price. The company offers a 30-day money-back guarantee. An extra $1.49 gets you the Surfshark One add-on, which includes virus and malware protection, identity and data breach monitoring, and ad tracker blocking. Credit cards, Google and Amazon Pay, and cryptocurrency via CoinGate or CoinPayments are all accepted.

Subscribers to Surfshark have access to over 3,200 servers in 65 countries. It also has a “no borders” feature that allows you to spoof your location to avoid government monitoring or censorship.

  • The standard monthly cost is $12.95.
  • Standard price: $59.76 for twenty months ($2.21 per month), charged a fee every year after the first 27 months.

The Use of Surfshark

Settings & Features

On the dashboard, a pop-up menu displays the connection time, whether your location is hidden (as it should always be when using a VPN), and your Surfshark IP address. The dashboard also includes a kill switch, which, when enabled, protects your privacy by preventing you from connecting to the internet if your VPN connection drops. Because many VPNs bury this feature in a settings menu, it would be more convenient to make it more visible.

The settings menus in each app were simple to find and navigate. Surfshark has two distinguishing features. To begin, you can configure it to automatically rotate your VPN IP address, making it even more difficult to track your online activity.

It also protects you from being blocked by a website or service based on your IP address. This feature appeals to me because it adds an extra layer of security.

Surfshark’s other distinguishing feature is its selection of “NoBoarders” servers. These are supposed to perform best if the government restricts your internet connection in your country, but I was unable to test this feature.

Streaming and Social Media

Surfshark allowed me to stream a high-definition YouTube video without buffering or stuttering. I also connected to Facebook and scrolled through my feed with ease. I had no DNS leaks while using Surfshark, which means the VPN properly concealed my IP address, location, and internet activity from my internet service provider.

Speed

Surfshark offers great speed. The average upload speed is 138.83, the average download speed is 289.08, and the average torrenting rate is 100.75.
